Mixture screw tool

If you've ever tried to tune the carbs on a Hawk, you've noticed that it's almost impossible to find a screwdriver that will fit in between the frame and the carb.

There are a bunch of cheap easy good options out there, such as using a screwdriver bit by itself (twiddle it with your fingers), get a stiff thick rubber washer and put it over the butt of the bit for more leverage and control (I think this is the best cheap option), snip off the pointy bit of a nail clipper and use that (the clipper, not the pointy bit), Craftsman makes an offset ratcheting screwdriver that will fit too.

If you want to buy a ready made tool, try this:

This screwdriver is small enough to fit in between the Hawk frame and the carb making it possible to adjust the mixture screws while the bike is running with the tank installed. It's a Snap-On tool, but it's not too expensive, only $5.40 including tax when I got this one in December 2001.

It's part number SD11B, but you have to ask them to replace the standard bit with the slightly smaller SDM211. They will do this for nothing. If not, go to a different truck. If you can't remember that number, it's also the smaller of the two flat head bits that come in the ratcheting screwdriver. (the other snap-on tool that's worth spending money on)
